Bassist David Price was born in 1963 in California.
David spent over 10 years in the Grammy winning African drum legend and cultural icon Babatunde Olatunji’s band Drums of Passion. He has played in the John “Broadway” Tucker Band for 10 years. He has played extensively with the Dave Workman Band and as a regular at San Francisco’s North Beach blues landmark “the Saloon”.
Some of those he has appeared on stage with include Airto Moriera, Flora Purim, Johnny Rivers, Joan Baez, Chris Cain, Roy Hargrove, Bruce Langhorne (Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man”), Fred Frith, Henry Kaiser, Lucky Peterson, Jim Messina, Wendy DeWitt, Al Jardine (the Beach Boys), and many others.
David produced and played on John “Broadway” Tucker’s Impromptu Blue CD. He has done numerous international tours and many live radio performances including KPFA, KKUP & KPIG.
David was also general manager of the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California for 7 years and has worked at the Monterey Jazz Festival for 18 years where he continues annually as a stage manager. He currently resides in Europe.
